Thread: Worm Flies

    Worm Flies

Am looking at the San Juan Pink or the Inch Worm on ReelFlies.ca.

In rivers that do not allow natural/organic bait, could I use these when fishing brown trout with a spinning outfit, float, leader and splitshot in place of a live worm?

I don't see why not however be sure to check the complete local regs. You may need to alter commercial tyed flies. ( ie. Upper Grand River has sections of no natural.organic/live bait regulations but also have barbless hook stipulations in place as well)

I've had great success using San Juan's in a variety of colours (wine ultra chenille being my best producer). I also have a few in the box which I have added a single wrap of flat mylar tinsel as a colar (Clitellum). I will usually tie the traditional way but will also tie in a hump sometimes. Experimenting is part of the fun of tying your own.

Interesting, what colour chenille are you using with the blue bead?

I guess the answer to my question is that you use every colour with the blue bead lol
I also notice that you make your worms a little longer than mine, might have to give that a try as well. (yes I know what this sounds like lol)

    Nice job Johnathon
